Performance Memories

Vanessa’s Cowboy Satyricon

“Mammas, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys…” – unless they are as HOT as my friend Steven Satyricon! Steven was absolutely a force of nature onstage in our Oasis Country Roads show. Classic cowboy suits his very natural, sharp-shooter stage presence and easy, laid-back voice. In fact, there would have been no country music show for Vanessa had Steven not suggested it to me some time ago. I told him “I can’t sing country…I’m a proper singer!” And laughingly he replied, “Oh Vanessa, you are also a great storyteller – and that’s what country is all about.” I am so glad I listened to my Cowboy Satyricon’s advice and expanded Vanessa’s repertoire and performance genre range. Steven, you will always be my Rhinestone Cowboy, darlin!

Tenderloin Tessie Easter 2017

It was a rainy Easter Sunday this year, but that didn’t prevent us from having a wonderful dinner with our great big extended family at Tenderloin Tessie. It is always a pure delight to bring joy to one another and to our honored guests through this 100% volunteer organization.

I am so proud to be a part of something that does such good for our community. If you would like to experience the best holiday ever, please join us some Thanksgiving, Christmas Day or Easter Sunday to see how good it feels to GIVE.

Singin’ In The Rain

What fun I had “Singin’ In The Rain” at Barbary Coast Burlesque in North Beach a few weeks ago. My April Showers Diva number depends on some fun volunteers, and “Will” and “Scott” were just fabulous as my water-misting minions. Thanks to Bunny Pistol for having me in your April show this year. It is always such fun entertaining along with you and your sexy dancing divas!

Berkeley City Club

17359194_584542895089057_1516770622838421784_oI enjoyed one fabulous afternoon at the Berkeley City Club, singing for Greg Hicks and his Intentional community party. What an amazing place the BCC is! Designed by Julia Morgan, architect of the Hearst Castle. My royal nature was right at home. And what an inclusive, wonderful group of new friends I met just by “wandering in the wrong door”! 17358668_584542848422395_5887146811001922905_o

Thank you, Greg, for inviting me to participate in your swell party. And thank you Laura Esserman for introducing me to Greg. It was just perfect!

It is so good to give thanks, always… but especially on Thanksgiving day, especially with family. I had the best Thanksgiving Day ever this year, celebrating with all my friends at the Tenderloin Tessie Holiday Dinners here in San Francisco. Thank-you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to produce one of our best holidays yet! Much love to all from Vanessa, and I will see you at Christmas Dinner in just a few weeks.

Disco Diva Night

“‘Cause when the working day is done, girls just wanna have fun!” And what a fun time we all had celebrating with the fabulous Claire Solot at the California Tennis Club earlier this May. DSC02218DSC02247What a grand night for singing it was at DIVALICIOUS! Many thanks to my dear friend, Janet Hunter, and all of her fabulous diva constituency for making the party the luscious affair that it was. I can’t wait for our DIVALICIOUS REDUX next year! “I’m getting hungry, peel me a grape.”
